Sheltering, Educating and enrolling our children in professional football as a career path and coping mechanism for grief helping.
One of the realities we have come to understand is that many of our children’s lives changed overnight. In a single moment, they went from having the love, protection, and guidance of one or both parents to facing the world alone.
Many of these children were living in the trenches and vulnerable communities of Kabale, constantly falling ill because of the harsh weather conditions and unsafe living environments. Others were left in the care of distant relatives who, due to difficult circumstances, often viewed them as burdens rather than children deserving love, care, and opportunity.
Moved by their suffering, we made the decision to create a small shelter where these children could find safety, hope, and a sense of belonging. Beyond providing basic needs, we introduced football as a powerful tool for healing and restoration. Through the game, the children are able to cope with grief, rebuild their confidence, and rediscover joy. Football also teaches them discipline, teamwork, and resilience while opening doors to future opportunities and potential career paths.
At Walda Children's Foundation Ltd, we believe every child deserves not only protection, but also the chance to dream again.
